in the desert!

We left Powell River this morning catching the 7:30 am ferry.  Drove for 12 hours and have now found a great place to camp for the night in Osoyoos at Nk'Mip RV resort.  Or campsite is right on the lake which Michael jumped into immediately upon our arrival.  We fed the local mallard ducks our leftover popcorn and Sampson enjoyed chasing them away!  A beautiful sunset completed our day.....

We will miss BC and all our family and friends but look forward to moving on down the road heading to new territory!

Over to the mainland...in Powell River

We left Val and Chad's place in the AM and drove up to Coombs.  Saw the goats on the market roof, shopped for a few items, had lunch and then went straight to Comox.  Terry wanted to check out St. Joseph's Hospital  in Comox where he was born as he has never been back there in almost 52 years!  Comox was a lovely place we both liked it!

Caught the 3:15 ferry over to Powell River and went directly to Trina and Chris's place and waited for them to show up on their new motorcycle!

Garage sales and golfing tomorrow!

beautiful Saanich peninsula

We departed Fort Langley yesterday after having a quick stop at grandma's house to pick up Jen and grab some snacks!  Thanks mom for the HUGE bage of snacks , again!  The last bag was full and this bag seems even bigger!

We caught the 10 am ferry from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay and arrived at the Beachcomber RV park in Saanich just after 12 noon.  What a beautiful location, right on the ocean.  I walked for a few km's on the beach geocaching.  Michael found lots of baby crabs and Terry found a few new birds.  Don Bigham and his dogs came over for a BBQ, bringing steaks, fresh potatoes from his garden and asparagus.  We all had a few cold drinks on the beach with a driftwood fire, wonderful!

Michael has been adamant about starting his grade 5 homeschooling NOW so we did some math yesterday and will work on some science later on today.  I am worried that we will have it all finished too quickly and have been asked by the school not to introduce him to grade 6 work as he will be too bored when he goes back next year.  I will just have to pace him.  He has read 3 huge books so far, I guess we will be looking for book stores sooner than expected.

a week in Fort Langley....

We have had a full week in Fort Langley and have visited with many people.  Dinner at Maryann and Greg Morry's house last Thursday.  It was great to see them and their two boys, they have grown up!
Grandma, mom and aunty Heather came out to pick the kids and Kelly up on Friday and we spent the night at grandma's place in Langley.  Terry had the entire RV to himself for one night!

Grandma showed us girls how to make strudel, a tradition grandma has made for years and years with her Austrian-Hungarian background.

On Saturday we went back to the campsite and had a family BBQ.  Rob and Lesley; aunty Kelly, Christy and Riley; Jody, Jeni, Nicholas and Jaimie; mom, grandma and aunty Heather; Linda Kazakoff, a long time friend of my mom's; and the 4 of us.  Our campsite was full but luckily we picked the one day where we had no rain!  The kids swam in the pool and Terry cooked at least 2 dozen burgers and hot dogs.

On Sunday a few people came back to visit and we said our farewells to them all.

Off to Victoria tomorrow on the ferry in the AM.....

the start of week 2

We left Agassiz yesterday morning and headed to Cultus Lake.  Half the park is closed at this time of the year and the remaining campsites were not that desirable so we headed to Golden Ears Park.  We found a nice spot, set up camp and the kids and I went for a walk.  Then the rain started...and it kept on raining..and raining..and raining.  I know this is a temperate rain forest and such and normally rain doesn't bother me too much, but this was insane.  After 6 hours of sitting in the driving rain and not able to go back outside we decided to head to Brae Island Park in Fort Langley, a few days earlier than we had reservations for and at least have electricity etc (in the rain).

We were all hooked up, and the blue sky was out, it hadn't rained at all in Langley!

Our spot was nice, a grassy area for Sampson, wifi for all the computers and stuff, a pool for Michael, and a pub, groceries and shopping just over the bridge a 5 min walk away!

Week one, done!

A tearful departure on May 31st took us to Smithers for our 1st night at Tyhee Lake Provincial Park.  We left Smithers on June 1st and pulled over in a rest stop for the night at 108 Mile. 4 nights were spent at the Shuswap Provincial Park near Kamloops.
Today we arrived in Agassiz to visit with long time friends, James and Stacey and their kids.  Haven't seen them for approx 6 years!

Hard to believe that the 1st week is done and we are all still talking to each other!
