a YEAR is a long time...

It is starting to sink in...a whole YEAR!

At first it was just a statement that I was making when I told the few people what we were doing..."yep, we are leaving for a year" now it is sinking in...a year...wow...

Jennifer is leaving to go off to University. She was going to go to Victoria and try and figure out what she wanted to study, take a few courses at the college there or whatever...now she has announced to us that she wants to be a dietician...a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree and a 1 year internship...not available at UVIC. UBC is too big (and expensive), Alberta, Sask and Man are out ( according to Jennifer) which leaves Ontario ( very expensive to live) , Quebec( McGill) and the Maritimes. Our road trip will be determined by where she gets accepted....Jen hopes it is UPEI. Housing is cheaper there and there are only 3300 undergraduates, small for University standards.

Jen is thinking about coming with us on the road trip until we reach her new place...we will stay in her location long enough to get her set up, make sure she is comfortable etc and then hit the road again down south...

I am sure this will be tough on my mom, all of us leaving at the same time, but airline tickets are cheap for us and it will only be a full day trip to visit no matter where any of us are!

It is after all only a year...and absence does make the heart grow fonder!

  1. The year will go faster than you would ever believe, especially if you're moving pretty regularly and seeing many different things. We've been on the road for over 6 months now and have 6 months to go - it is going TOO fast! The US is too big, there's so much to see and do, we're annoyed that we have the bothers of school and work to deal with on the journey!

Enjoy the preparation and the journey - you'll soon decide that a year is, in fact, not long enough, LOL!
